Why is My Toilet Bubbling? Effective Ways to Solve Toilet Gurgles

What to do with a Gurgling Toilet

People love bubbles. These are often associated with joy and sunshine. But seeing a bubbling toilet? Now, that’s not a fun sight.

Have you ever encountered a gurgling or bubbling toilet? Sounds creepy, but it, unfortunately, does happen as if the toilet has its own life. This happens when your toilet bubbles and just won’t flush. Sometimes, it happens at random which even adds to the creepiness especially when it happens to your toilet.

When this happens, it is a good idea to call a professional plumber to get rid of this bubbling situation. This could cause a mess (literally) if you leave it ignored. This article will explain why this happens and what to do about it.

What causes a gurgling toilet?

A gurgling toilet happens when there is a blockage somewhere in the drain pipes. Instead of air flowing properly down the pipes, it gets pushed back because of the blockage which then causes the bubbling sound. Sometimes, you notice bubbles in the toilet water instead of a weird gurgle sound.

Either way, you should address the problem immediately. Most likely, your toilet or drain line is clogged. You can call a professional plumber, or you can follow simple hacks to get rid of this annoying toilet issue.

How to fix a gurgling toilet

Fortunately, fixing a clogged toilet is not as complicated as you think. Here are ways to get rid of a bubbling or gurgling toilet.

When there is a clog on the toilet

This happens when there is random stuff in the toilet that should not be there in the first place. Toilets are designed specifically to flush down human waste, not toys, wipes, and other random objects.

Since these items do not dissolve in water, they will end up clogging the toilet which can be a headache to fix. In this case, you have no choice but to take whatever is clogging out of the toilet using a plunger or a toilet auger. Some use a running garden hose to wash out a clog, but make sure not to cause a flood while doing this.

When there is a clog in the drain line

Drain lines connect your drain system to the mainline, the latter of which then takes your household’s wastewater to the main sewer drain pipe connection. A drain line problem only affects one area in your homes such as the kitchen or bathroom. A mainline blockage, on the other hand, could affect your entire house.

If the former is the issue, you can simply use a toilet auger to get rid of the clog. In some cases, the plumber may have to send a camera down the pipe to determine the cause of clogging. Meanwhile, if the latter is the problem, it is better to call a plumber to get it fixed immediately.

Toilet issues can be such a headache to deal with. But fixing it should not be as complicated as you think. You can use tools such as a plunger or toilet snake to dislodge any objects causing the clogging. But for major plumbing issues, better to hire a professional plumber in Franklin TN to have your toilet fixed ASAP!
